2026 Board of Education Image

The St. Ignace Area Schools Board of Education is seeking a qualified community member to fill a board vacancy. Serving on the Board is a meaningful way to make a difference for our students, our district, and our community.

Michigan law dictates that members of a local board of education must be at least 18 years of age, must be registered and eligible to vote, and must reside within the St. Ignace Area Schools district that includes the City of St. Ignace, St. Ignace Township and Brevort Township.

The individual appointed by the Board will serve until the next regularly scheduled election in November 2026. At that time, the Board seat will be placed on the ballot for election to fulfill the remainder of the term expiring in November 2028.

Interested applications are asked to submit notice of interest to Superintendent Kari Visnaw no later than January 30, 2026 by noon. Qualified applicants will be invited for inclusion in the special board meeting of February 3, 2026 at 6:00pm. During this meeting the Board will conduct public interviews of board candidates and make a formal appointment for the vacant seat.

Please contact Superintendent Kari Visnaw for further information at kvisnaw@eupschools.org or 906-643-8145.
