Mr. Schley

I am extremely excited to be the new K-8 Principal for St. Ignace Area Schools! I was most recently the K-12 Physical Education teacher for St. Ignace Area Schools where I was also the Varsity Assistant Football coach. I have been a Physical Education Teacher for 9 years, along with coaching many seasons in football, basketball, baseball, and softball. I have my Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Health.

This will be my first official year as a principal. However, I have a master’s degree in educational leadership from Central Michigan University. Through this degree program I completed an internship where I took on the role as an assistant principal where I gained valuable experience. I am also certified through MiBLSi and Restorative Practices through Eastern Michigan University. Both programs deal with effectively managing conflict with students and providing the best possible environment for our kids to learn.

I was born and raised in Cheboygan, Michigan. However, my wife Mallory was born in raised in St. Ignace. Because of this, I spent quite a bit of time here and fell in love with everything St. Ignace has to offer. It is a great community with great people. Along with that, I believe it’s one of the most beautiful places to live. I could not be happier with our decision to move back home to be a part of the great things going on here at St. Ignace Area Schools. We also have two children, Parker and Elliott that keep us very busy, but would not want it any other way. I am excited to raise them in this community and school district.

Lastly, I am looking forward to working with everyone in this community and school district to provide the best possible experience for our kids. My goal is to provide students with opportunities to have unique positive experiences that they will take with them for the rest of their lives! I will work with students, coaches, teachers, parents, and community members to provide a safe and engaging environment for every student every day.
