Classroom Expectations/Rules:

Basic Student Responsibilities:

Keep track of your own books and assignments.
Start your work on time and allow time to finish.
Ask for help when you need it.
Do your own work on individual tasks. During cooperative learning activities, be a productive member of your group.
Turn your work in on time.
Accept responsibility for your grades and other consequences.
Make sure you bring everything you need to school. We discourage the use of the telephone to call parents to bring in forgotten items.

Discipline Procedures:

Warning
Second Time - Fill out the refocus form and think about ways to correct poor behavior.
Third Step - Student will fill out another refocus form and parents will be notified.
Fourth Step - Automatic disciplinary slip to the office. Disciplinary slips resulting in 2 or more points will disqualify a student from the honor roll.
The following behaviors will absolutely not be tolerated: bullying, profanity, and physical violence. These behaviors will result in an immediately disciplinary write up involving the principal.
Please Note: Students with a conduct grade of 4 or 5 are automatically off the honor roll.

Assignment/Homework Policy:

Students are expected to turn all assignments in on time.
To receive full credit, the assignment must be fully completed and turned in at the beginning of the class period on the day it is due.
After school assignment completion:*******New Policy
Who will participate? Students who are failing to complete classroom assignments.
When? Afterschool until 3:45. Only when parents are notified.
Where? This will be held in the fourth grade classrooms with Mrs. Shepard.
Why? To reinforce good learning habits.
How will it work? The school will notify parents during the day if the child is not getting their work done or if they try to work on late assignments during new instruction. The student will be required to stay after school until 3:45. Parents will be required to pick students up at 3:45.
Please note that is not the fourth grades policy to give large amounts of homework nightly. We are more concerned with forming good learning habits. When students do not complete assignments, it hurts their understanding and often disrupts other students in the class. Students also spend time trying to catch up during times when the class is on new material. Forming good habits are of great concern to us, and have prompted us to form this program.
Lastly, if this program isn't working with a student, it will be stopped and a new plan will be made. Students not completing assignments could be subject to retention.

Late Assignment Policy:

If the assignment is not completed on time, the student has until the start of the next class period to turn the assignment in with a 10% point deduction.
For each following day that the assignment is late, the student’s grade on that assignment will be lowered by 10% for each late day.
After one week, the highest score the student can earn would be a 50%.
Reminder to students and parents: Any late assignment will automatically be recorded in the discipline book. Students who are not getting work done in a timely fashion will be subject to a disciplinary referral.

Student Absentee Policy:

Accommodations will be made for any excused absences.
Once a student returns from an excused absence, he/she must immediately turn in the assignment collected on the day of the absence.
Make up work will follow the schedule set by the teacher and student
