January is School Board Recognition Month

School Board members are elected officials that work for your kids.

They oversee a $6,250,000 budget with a goal of providing the best quality education for all.

    They work for no pay.

As Tom Brokaw says, “There is a place in America to take a stand:  it is public education.  It is the underpinning of our cultural and political system.  It is great common ground.  Public education after all is the engine that moves us as a society toward a common destiny…It is in public education that the American dream begins to take shape.”

As John F. Kennedy says, “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education.”

Or, as the ancient Chinese proverb says,” If you are planning for a year, sow rice;  if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.”

The St. Ignace Area Schools' Board of Education:

                                 Jane Ann Weiss, President

                                 G. Michael Emery, Vice President

                                 Martha Sjogren, Treasurer

                                 Ronn Farr, Secretary

                                 Regina Frazier, Trustee

                                 David Davis, Trustee

                                 Stephannie Vallier, Trustee

These are volunteers for, arguably, the most important function in our society.
