January is School Board Recognition Month
School Board members are elected officials that work for your kids.
They oversee a $6,250,000 budget with a goal of providing the best quality education for all.
They work for no pay.
As Tom Brokaw says, “There is a place in America to take a stand: it is public education. It is the underpinning of our cultural and political system. It is great common ground. Public education after all is the engine that moves us as a society toward a common destiny…It is in public education that the American dream begins to take shape.”
As John F. Kennedy says, “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education.”
Or, as the ancient Chinese proverb says,” If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.”
